Charly’s Amazing Oopa Loompas

So here’s some info about the Mucking Afazing people who work at Charly’s Bakery- night and day- yes we work when you sleep too! We always have music playing while we bake and ice and our staff may eat whatever they want to while they are at work.
Each member of staff gets a free birthday cake for themself and all immediate members of their family, each year. We work so hard to make everyone else beautiful, delicious cakes, and we want our staff to share their pride and joy at the wonderful cakes we make, with their families too.
Do you know that each of our staff have a photo of our President, Thabo Mbeki, with the birthday cake we made for him, up in their homes to show their friends and families.

We call ourselves “the Rainbow Bakery” as we are a proud and happy mix of so many different nations. We have Xhosa, Tswana, Sotho, Portuguese Angolan, Congolese, Jews, Germans, Christians and We live and work happily together.

    Charly’s is an institution! I cannot drive down Roeland St. without popping in… The cupcakes are my best, especially the glitter-fied ones.

    TOday i found myself browsing through your webites and come across the story of Charly’s Amazing Oompa Loompas, and read through it, it brought such joy to know that there are great people who make the cakes and pastries i love so much, You can almost feel the love and energy put into those cakes,,,,Keep the ovens burning

    It takes a LOT of self-control to drive past Charly’s and to NOT pull over. I’ve tried basically everything and yum, yum . . . YUM! Mmmmmmm!

    We have been ordering brithday cakes for 3years from Charly’s bakery for when thereis a birthday or baby shower at our work.Never been disappointed always impressed us with the cakes. Our speciality is always the delicious death by chocolate cake,its too die for.Charly’s Bakery keep up the good work!!!!!!!

    I have looked on your website and I saw some lovely cakes. But Iam trying to find a three layerd sliver cake it dosent matter how it looks just a three layerd silver cake.It would be nice if you can post up a picture as soon as possible, because my mother in laws birthday is this sunday!!!!!

    I was very impressed that your staff were so proud of the cakes they were selling and could tell me in detail why they were the best cakes. And they were right!! Happy staff make fantastic cakes- make happy customers.

    So i hadn’t been onto the blog for ages, and popped on tonight to find all these wonderful comments. Thank you so much. Each day we produce all these wonderful cakes for all your happy times, and we really put our hearts into each one, and when i see feedback like this, I get warm shivers, and I think I really have an amazing job. Creating cakes and cupcakes which make people so happy and sharing in our customer’s celebrations makes it so worthwhile all the hard work. Love Jacqui

    Oh my Sweet Lord!
    Last year, CTFW, Kluk & CGDT after party… I’ve never seen anything so beautiful, like a Mad Hatters Tea party, with beautiful Couture dresses and Couture cakes,
    My favourite, the Gold Death by Chocolate cupcakes with an individual fresh red rose in each!
    Such an impression was made that I refer all my happy couples to be wed, to Charley’s Bakery for your amazing, memorable wedding cakes!

    Hi there,

    I would like to say keep up with the good work of baking yummy yummy cakes.

    I’ve heard of your bakery from my late aunt Sis’ Jenny Guzana, 4 years ago when i asked her of any bakery that bakes nice cakes and she told me about Charly’s and ever since then i make it a point that i celebrate my birthday every 22 Sept with my family in remembering her with your wicked chocolate cake. It is true that it is the best selling cake – NUMBER ONE! I want nothing else but the wicked chocolate cake, not to mention those red rose petals. IT’S THE BEST

    I tasted some of your egg-free chocolate cake this weekend. It is the best cake I have EVER tasted and think it was worth every penny!

    It’s such a pity that physical pleasures are so fleeting, but thank you for making heaven in my mouth.

    We ordered a simple but beautiful gold with white roses wedding cake in Feb last year. We loved it! Half the cake travelled all the way to Senegal to my inlaws and they loved it too!
