Charly’s Amazing Oompa Loompas
So here’s some info about the Mucking Afazing people who work at Charly’s Bakery- night and day- yes we work when you sleep too! We always have music playing while we bake and ice and our staff may eat whatever they want to while they are at work.
Each member of staff gets a free birthday cake for themself and all immeadiate members of their family, each year. We work so hard to make everyone else beautiful, delicious cakes, and we want our staff to share their pride and joy at the wonderful cakes we make, with their families too.
Do you know that each of our staff have a photo of our President, Thabo Mbeki, with the birthday cake we made for him, up in their homes to show their friends and families.
We call ourselves “the Rainbow Bakery” as we are a proud and happy mix of so many different nations. We have Xhosa, Tswana, Sotho, Portuguese Angolan, Congolese, Jews, Germans, Christians and We live and work happily together.

Hey there.. I love the style and well, the superb and innovative designs of your cakes.. Its awesome.. It almost look too beautiful to cut.. well at least when I bought the round chocolate cake with rose petals around it.. I did not even want to cut it!! (haha).. On another note I am a muslim client of Charlies..and been a client of yours for years.. and I notice you have almost every religion BUT muslim staff at your bakery?.. You so very proudly pointed out your Rainbow Nation staff.. just wonderin… TAKE CARE… and keep baking…
Looking at your cakes and reading about your Oopa Loompas makes me wish i was an Oopa Loompa.In case you need someone to do quality control:) a.k.a tasting im your person.keep icing!
Hi Charly’s Angels! OMG I can’t believe it took so long for a Southh African production to put You on our TV screen. I Love your shop and way off live. I know it is hard work but also so rewarding as far as the creative side off your job brings. I could spend my holiday in your shop and will be totally rested afterwards. That is how much I love Cake. Why have I never heard of yoy before? My friends all know how I love cakes. I live in the Garden Route in A small village Called. Sedgefield. I have a hairsalon and at night I bake. So your show gives me a lot off new idees. I am tiping this messeage to from my Blackberry phone so I hope you get it. All I can say is Buddy from Cake Boss is we have more talent in our local Angel girls. Love your show. When I come to Capetown again I will come to your shop. I just have to see it to realy believe it.
Hi All . My daughter a 20 year old law student is simply facinated by your show . She turns 21 in Jan 2012 and I being a single parent cannot afford a hugh celebration but the only request she humbly makes that we drive to Cape Town during the December vacation just to visit your bakery and according to her , if I buy her just a cup cake from your bakery she will be BLESSED . A tall order since we live in Durban but I am making every effort that my child realizes her dream . Keep up the amazing work .

I feel like i am in another world when i look at your cakes. What an inspiartion to wake up every day and go to work just to be able to create such master pieces, must be a dream. What i wouldnt do , just to spend one month with all of you in the Charlys Bakery, and be able to share in your knowledge and expertise of creating such wonerful works of art!! You all have been blessed with such wonderful talent and gifts!!
What a pity i live in Durban. I am a single mom and am in the catering field, but to be able to do what you do would be a dream come true for me?

Stumbled across your TV program the other day and couldn’t believe my eyes – SA has it’s own groovy, awesomely talented super “bakery”!! Brilliant! Will be on holiday in Cape Town early 2012 and HAVE to bring my kids to your bakery!!! They will LUUUUUVVVVV it! If ever you decide to host baking courses, let me know!! We have a pie and pastry factory in the eastern cape and would love to learn a few tricks of the trade!

Although I live in Johannesburg and have never tasted a Charly’s Bakery cake ( what a pity as they all look delicious), I did however watch the documentary about the Charly’s Bakery family on TV about two weeks ago. I was extremely impressed at how happy everyone seems to be. My fiance throught I was crazy asI sobbed my heart out when you guys went to Zanzibar as a tribute to your friend Antoinette. I wish you all well and hope to see one of your magnificent stores in our region soon.

I am originally from Cape Town but currently living in New Zealand. I have never been into your bakery but my Kiwi husband and I will definitely be getting our “welcome us back to the Mother City” cake from you! I have been watching your show on Sky (the NZ version of DSTV) and do not miss an episode. You are all truly an inspiration for the people of South Africa.
I have also been following your Operation Shoebox and hope that you have another one next year, so that we can get involved. I am so proud to come from the same country as you guys. I was reading some of the email posts and it honestly made me teary eyed.
